We would like you to have the best of time while visiting us in Varna! For this reason, we list some information which you will find very useful and they will prevent you from any unpleasant surprises.
Arriving at Varna Airport
If you have not made arrangements for somebody to meet you ( most of the times we meet our clients and drive them to their hotel), before you get into a taxi, make sure that the “meter” is on and that the driver has quoted to you the cost, otherwise you can be overcharged (most taxi drivers charge non-Bulgarians double).
Where to stay ?
The Classic Restaurant & Hotel is situated in the beautiful and picturesque Sea Garden in Varna. It is very stylish and newly decorated, it has 7 bedrooms, some of which are suites, and they are all theme coloured and furnished. The staff and owner are very friendly and make you feel at ease and do everything possible so your stay is really perfect. If you decide to eat at the restaurant, we can recommend it. There are dishes that are Bulgarian, but the menu is made up of different cuisines. It has an outside seating area with a nice garden and inside there is a very comfortable chic dinning room.
So if you want a lovely meal or stay at the hotel you will be very pleased, we are sure.
Reservations can be done through our offices by sending an e-mail to: office@buy-sell-bulgaria.com.
Moving around:
Most shops, hotels and restaurants, with the exception of some major hotels, still do not accept travellers' checks or credit cards. Bulgaria is still largely a cash economy, so visitors will need a reasonable amount of Bulgarian Leva. It is strongly recommended that foreign currency (either Euro, US Dollars or Pounds) is exchanged only at banks or licensed exchange bureaus, as changing money in the street may result in fraud. In addition ATM cash machines are increasing in numbers in the main towns and resorts, allowing Leva to be drawn with all major debit/credit cards.
While in Varna, you can move around using the “yellow taxis” which will come and collect you and then deliver you where you want to go. These taxis have fixed tariffs and they will not in any way try to overcharge you. You can call a taxi by calling the following telephone number, 38-88-88. If you are using a British or other European mobile phone, you should call : 052-38-88-88.
Where to “wine & dine”?
Varna generally has a big number of nice restaurants and tavernas. The best though where you can wine and dine at a fraction of the cost back home, are the following:
HAPPY BAR & GRILL, with a fantastic kitchen, very low prices and its “dancing waitress”. There are 5 HAPPY grills in Varna. One in the city centre, one next to the town hall, one at St’ Constantine and Elena, one at Golden Sands and one near the central train station.
HASHOVE, traditional Bulgarian kitchen at its best, the best Bulgarian wines and traditional music. Also very popular with the locals.
GUAN DON Chinese restaurant. The kitchen is far more original and much better than the best Chinese restaurant in the UK. They offer huge portion, big enough for 2-3 people. Prices very low, about 4 pounds per person including wine.
Bars and Pubs:
There are hundreds of nice corner bars where you can have a drink and some snacks. In the city centre alone, there are more than two hundred.
Naturally you will love to go to a British Pub! We highly recommend the “THREE LIONS”, which is the closer you can find to a real British Pub. It can be found opposite to the main railway station of Varna.
Banks:
We highly recommend EMPORIKI BANK and MKB UNION BANK! Besides the pleasant faces of their staff, which will make sure that you get the best of service, the banks offer over the counter dealing, meaning that you can open an account in less than 10 minutes and you can deposit and withdraw money in no time. Both banks offer full banking services.
