An official announcement to the press for the launch of the first 27 hole golf course in Bulgaria, was made on Thursday 16th November, at Horizon Restaurant, Varna. Mr. Christopher Violaris, Chairman and Managing Director of Eurolink Investment Group, informed the press that the Royal Oakwood Golf Course, and gated complex is to be constructed on 1500 acres of land on the hills close to the village of Konstantinovo, overlooking the Bay of Varna.
Mr. Terry Murrey, the golf course designer and architect has designed four courses in the UK, and one in Portugal, was present at the launch, with Graham Coombe, Golf Professional and Consultant, and Jeffrey Abraham Course Construction/Consultant. The costs for the architectural design and supervision will be in the region of half a million GBP.
Mr. Violaris said that the gated complex will have 400 luxury villas, with swimming pools and all the facilities you would expect of a small town, such as restaurants, shops, bars, medical facility and spa. Construction will be completed by June 2011 for the inaugural match. In addition there will also be a nine hole golf course and driving range for beginners.
Mr. Violaris heads the group of entrepreneurs that are investing 15 million euros in the complex, and said that the off plan villas are selling like hot cakes to British citizens, he also said that we do not want to repeat the disastrous situation, like in Sunny Beach, therefore we support the move for making the region a protected territory under the Natura 2000 program. Mr. Vasil Diulgerov, Mayor Konstantinovo, Mr. Alan Coleman, Group Sales Director, and support staff were also present at the launch.
